Transformed by an around-the-world bike trip in 1987-88, Rob Lerner and Diane Varney have ever since been imbued with an irrepressible urge to “live different.” Drawing on diverse education, career and life experiences, and informed by their shared obsessive attention to detail, Casa Caramba is the latest creation from this dynamic couple. Rob and Diane first moved to Mexico in 1996 after selling their outdoor gear manufacturing business, and continue to manage their vacation rental home El Encanto de Cabo Pulmo at the National Marine Park in Baja California Sur.
Diane’s discerning eye as an Artist and collector is evident throughout, featuring original works and prints, plus a distinctive collection of art and handicrafts accumulated over years of Mexico travel. Rob’s keen design sense and environmental sensibility are also on display (see Sustainable). He is a board member and technical advisor to the local non-profit CATIS-Mexico and remains active in the field of bioenergy and sustainable enterprise development in Latin America.
The amazing Eva masterfully handles the task of keeping Casa Caramba looking awesome for our guests! She is on-site weekdays for cleaning, linen changes, watering the gardens, and more. Plus, she lives right across the street and is available 24/7 as needed.
In addition to keeping Casa Caramba clean and tidy, Eva is an amazing cook! Better yet, she gives cooking lessons for preparing traditional Mexican dishes (past guests give her rave reviews!). Dinner parties, cooking lessons for you and your friends, grocery shopping for special meals… Eva can do it all.
